Iran has clearly told America that it will not make any compromise on its missile program. During a big program held in Iran on February 11, the country’s senior official Ali Shamkhani declared it a ‘red line’. He said that missiles are necessary for the security of the country and there will be no talks on this. On the other hand, a long meeting has taken place in Washington between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which a strategy to put pressure on Iran has been decided.

Iran kept its conditions
The first round of talks between Iran and America took place in Oman on 6 February. Now discussions are going on to decide the date of the second round. Iranian officials have made it clear that talks should take place only on the ‘nuclear’ issue. Iran has proposed that if all economic sanctions imposed on them are lifted, they will reduce uranium enrichment from 60% to 20%.
However, Iran says that missiles and defense systems are for their security and should be kept away from politics. Ali Larijani said that the results of the first meeting held in Oman were good and now preparations are going on for further talks.
America and Israel’s plan
Donald Trump and Netanyahu had a deep discussion on the Iran issue in a three-hour meeting held at the White House. America wants that not only nuclear but also missile and proxy groups should be included in the agreement. The Trump administration has clearly said that talks should continue, but the pressure will not reduce.
Trump has talked about sending a ‘second aircraft carrier’ to the Persian Gulf. America is considering this as ‘maximum pressure’ i.e. a way to create maximum pressure. According to the IAEA report, Iran currently has a stock of about 9,870 kg of uranium.
The US has warned that if diplomacy does not work, military action like June 2025 could also be an option. Both countries may come to the negotiating table again at the end of February.
