During the last 24 hours in Kuwait, security forces have intercepted 5 ballistic missiles and 7 drones. According to the Defense Ministry, the air defense system has successfully foiled these air attacks. In this attack, two people were injured when a drone fell on a residential building in southern Kuwait. In view of the current security situation, the Kuwait government has banned all public programs on the occasion of upcoming Eid.
What was the impact on the airport and normal life?
An attempt was also made to target Kuwait International Airport with several drones. Authorities immediately implemented emergency plans and there was no loss of life. However, some property damage has been recorded at the airport. Apart from this, 6 overhead transmission lines have stopped working due to debris falling from destroyed missiles and drones in the sky.
Due to fault in transmission line, there has been partial power cut in many areas. Energy Ministry teams are doing its repair work. These attacks are part of the ongoing territorial dispute since 28 February 2026. Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Saud al-Atwan has clarified that the armed forces are fully prepared to face any threat.
Statistics of attacks and new rules of the government
Regarding this entire matter, the Kuwait Government and the Defense Ministry have issued many new instructions for the general public and expatriates. Embassies of countries like Spain and the Philippines are also monitoring the situation for their citizens.
Missiles and Drones: Of the 5 missiles fired, 4 were destroyed in the air and 1 fell outside the danger zone. Out of the 7 drones, 5 were shot down and 2 fell outside.
Public Stop: The Home Ministry has imposed a temporary ban on plays, parties and weddings during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr due to security reasons.
Digital work: PACI has appealed to the general public to use digital transactions and online services during the current situation.
Avoid rumours: The Army has asked people to rely only on information received from official channels and follow safety instructions.
The Civil Service Commission has made it clear that despite the security situation, Eid al-Fitr holidays for government agencies will remain as scheduled. Expatriates living in Kuwait have been advised to avoid leaving home without any reason and strictly follow government orders.
