Kuwait Food Security: New rule of Kuwait government, now ration and essential goods will be monitored 24 hours, new system implemented.

The Kuwait government has launched a new and high-tech control system to strengthen the supply of food items in the country. Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila recently visited the Central Control Center to understand its intricacies. The purpose of this new system is to ensure that citizens and expatriates living in Kuwait do not face shortage of ration and essential items under any circumstances. The government is now directly monitoring the stock and supply chain.

How will this new control system work and what will be the impact on migrants?

This new system works like a modern control room that is linked to co-operative societies and ration centers across Kuwait. Some key points about it are:

A total of 191 monitoring points have been created across the country which remain active 24 hours. At least 76 co-operative societies have been directly linked to this system. The Minister has clarified that now real-time report of availability of goods and their stock level can be seen. This system will help in preventing hoarding and keeping the prices stable, which will not increase the burden on the pockets of the common man and migrants.

Some previous major decisions taken by the government regarding food security

The Kuwait government has taken several strict measures regarding food safety in the last few months to maintain market stability. Complete details of these decisions can be seen in the table given below:

Date Main decision taken: 4 March 2026 Export of all food products was completely banned. 2 April 2026 The government decided to bear the additional import cost to keep the prices of essential goods stable. 28 December 2025 New rules were implemented to promote local farming and farmers. 29 March 2026 Special teams were deployed by the Food and Nutrition Authority to investigate markets and factories.

The main objective of all these efforts is to create a large stock of grains and other essential commodities within the country. It is a matter of relief for the migrants that the government does not want to let the supply in the local markets get disrupted even amidst the ongoing turmoil at the international level. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been given the responsibility of this entire portfolio so that immediate action can be taken in any emergency.
