Police have taken major action after a video went viral on social media in Kuwait. The Kuwait Ministry of Interior reported on Saturday, March 7, 2026 that three people had been arrested. These people had made a video making fun of the current situation in the country, which the government has taken seriously. The administration has made it clear that those who play with the security and reputation of the country will not be spared.

On what charges were the arrests made?
According to the ministry, those arrested include two Kuwaiti citizens and a Colombian citizen. They are accused of spreading wrong news and posting a video that is harmful to the interests of the country. This action has been taken under Electronic Crimes Law.
Officials said their video was against ‘public morality’ and spread false news. Even before this, between March 4-5, some people were caught for making fun of the Army and Air Defense System. All these accused have been sent to Public Prosecution for further legal action.
What is the warning for social media users?
The Kuwait government has made it clear that joking on security and military related matters will not be tolerated at all. Considering the current regional situation, the rules are being implemented very strictly. The ministry has issued a strong message saying that the law will be ‘strictly enforced’ on all.
Expatriate Indians and others living in Kuwait have been advised to use social media responsibly. Spreading unverified news or making fun of the country’s institutions can get you in trouble. Do not share any kind of content which is outside the scope of law or which spreads rumours.
