The administration of US President Donald Trump has clarified that a new fee of one lakh US dollars for H-1B visas is for new applicants and will have to pay a lump sum of this fee.
This explanation is a matter of great relief for thousands of professionals working in America who are concerned about being impressed by this new rule: a large number of Indians are Indians.
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said in a statement on Saturday that President Trump’s new H-1B visa fee will be applicable only to new applicants.
The Trump administration has also clarified that the H1B visa application submitted before the effective declaration of September 21 will not be affected by it. Apart from this, visa holders currently living outside the US also do not need to pay the fee for re -entry into the country.
White House spokesman Taylor Rogers told ‘PTI-language’, “President Trump promised to prioritize American workers and this intelligent step is the result of that.
He said, “It also provides certainty to those American businesses that really want to bring very skilled workers in our great country, but they are not being allowed to come forward due to the system disturbances.”
A White House official told the ‘PTI-language’ that the fee of one lakh US dollars is lump sum, which applies only to the new application. “This applies only to the new visa, not renewed or existing visa holders….”
USCIS Director Joseph Adlo said in a memorandum that the announcement issued by Trump on Friday will only apply to those who will now apply.
This announcement does not apply to those who are beneficiaries of applications filed before the effective date of proclamation, currently beneficiaries of approved applications, or who have legitimately issued H-1B non-resident visas’.
