US President Donald Trump had earlier claimed that business relations between the two countries were completely unilateral for several decades. Now he said that both countries are talking well. Along with this, he claimed that India is putting the most tariffs on America in the world. Our relationship with India is very good, but had a unilateral relationship with India for many years. India was putting a lot of tariff on us. It was the most in the world, and so we were not trading with India, but they were trading with us, because we were not charging them. So whatever he made, he sent it to our country, but we did not send anything, because they were imposing 100 percent tariffs on us.
Donald Trump gave the example of American motorcycle company Harley Davidson and said Harley Davidson could not sell his motorcycle in India, as there was 200 percent tariff on the motorcycle. After this, Harley Davidson went to India and built a motorcycle plant there and now he would not have to pay tariffs.
Trump also stated that thousands of companies, especially China, Mexico and Canadian car manufacturers, are choosing to make their products in the US to avoid tariffs and benefit from protective policies. He further said, “Now thousands of companies are coming to America, they want to set up plants here, because they like to live here and they will benefit from tariffs.”
