Pakistan Blast Update: Blast in Islamabad mosque during Friday prayers, 31 killed and 169 injured

A huge explosion took place in a mosque during Friday prayers in Shahzad Town area of ​​Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. So far, at least 31 people are reported to have died in this massive explosion, while 169 people are said to be injured. The administration took immediate action and started taking the injured to hospitals. Police and rescue teams are present at the spot.

Emergency and relief work in hospitals

Considering the seriousness of the blast, the administration has declared emergency in all the major hospitals of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The injured people are being admitted to PIMS and other nearby hospitals. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has informed that the condition of many injured is still critical, due to which the death toll may increase. Security forces have surrounded the incident site from all sides.

Government ordered investigation

After this tragic incident, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the attack. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter and has asked for better treatment to the injured. Police are still investigating whether it was a suicide attack or whether an explosive device was planted inside the mosque. Till now no organization has taken responsibility for this attack.
