Qatar has taken a big step to help the people of Sudan. On 9 February 2026, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) together sent 7 trucks filled with medicines to Sudan. This help is not being sent by air but by building a ‘land bridge’ by road so that the goods can reach the needy directly.
What is the complete plan of this medical project?
This project has been started to support the Health Department of Sudan. Officials said that this is only the beginning and the scope of help will be further expanded in the coming days. Under this entire scheme, a target has been set to provide medicines to about 5 lakh patients.
Details Information Total cost 13.3 million QAR (about 3.65 million dollars) Total containers 70 shipping containers (1,400 pallets) Who will benefit 5 lakh patients from 12 states Agency QFFD and QRCS
How will help reach by road?
For the first time, Qatar has made arrangements to send aid to Sudan through ‘Overland Humanitarian Corridor’ i.e. by road. Life saving medicines have been sent in the first batch. The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) team is present in Sudan and is working closely with the Ministry of Health there.
Keeping security in mind, medicines will be delivered to medical centers through special reception points. The objective of this project is to ensure that medicines reach hospitals without any interruption and treatment of patients does not stop. Local officials are keeping an eye on this distribution system.
