Security forces have foiled a major conspiracy in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. On March 18, 2026, Saudi Air Defense destroyed 5 drones in the air, which were trying to target a major energy plant. Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said that the army, showing promptness, shot down these drones before they could reach near the plant. On March 18, not only these 5 drones, but a total of 14 drones and 1 ballistic missile were stopped in different areas. According to government data, since the end of February, Saudi Arabia has shot down more than 400 drones and several missiles while protecting its borders.

Many of Saudi Arabia’s major oil refineries and gas facilities are located in the Eastern Province. A large number of Indian expatriates and foreign workers work in these areas. The ministry has assured that they are fully committed to the security of civil and economic infrastructure.
