Saudi Arabia News: Meeting of foreign ministers of Saudi and Algeria, strategy made on important issues like Sudan and Yemen

An important meeting between the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Algeria was held in Algiers on 17 March 2026. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf discussed in detail many major regional and international issues during this period. In this meeting, special emphasis was laid on resolving the ongoing political and security crisis in Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Syria and Lebanon. Apart from this, both the countries have also started work on increasing mutual trade and preparations for the upcoming Arab summit to be held in Jeddah.

During this official meeting, both the countries shared their strategies for restoring peace in the Middle East and North Africa region. The main focus of the conversation was on:

Regional Security: To overcome the ongoing crisis in countries like Sudan, Yemen and Syria, emphasis was laid on finding Arab solutions to Arab issues.
Arab Summit: Following the guidelines of the 2022 Algiers conference, preparations for the next conference to be held in Jeddah will now be intensified so that the unity of the Arab countries can be strengthened.
Palestine issue: The two leaders reiterated their commitment to work together to support and defend Palestine in international forums.
Respect for sovereignty: Interference in the sovereignty and territorial integrity of any country was completely rejected and it was agreed to follow the UN Charter.

What was the decision on economic and bilateral partnership?

Along with political discussions, both the countries have also taken major steps to strengthen their economic position. In the meeting, it was decided to activate different committees of the High Council of Algerian-Saudi Coordination.

At present there is trade of about 1 billion dollars between the two countries. To further expand this trade, new partnerships will be sought in the economic sector. Additionally, the legal framework is also being strengthened to secure bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Both sides have agreed to increase official visits and intensify bilateral coordination in the future.
