How was the power crisis resolved?
Recently there was a major power crisis in Socotra, when a private company suddenly stopped work. Due to this the entire island was plunged into darkness. In this difficult time, Saudi Arabia’s technical team took charge and fixed the system there.
The Saudi team has resumed electricity supply to hospitals, universities and people’s homes. Apart from this, Saudi Arabia has also given a fuel grant of $81.2 million. The aim is to ensure that Socotra’s power grid and government facilities continue to operate without interruption and that people are not left in the dark.
Air campaign launched to distribute ration
In late January, Saudi Arabia launched a special ‘air relief bridge’ for the residents of Socotra. This campaign continued for 10 days, in which huge quantities of ration and essential goods were delivered to the island through planes. ‘Force 808’ has played a major role in this work.
