The second day of important meeting has started on Thursday, the main objective of which is to stop the fierce war that has been going on for four years. What are the main conditions of Russia and Ukraine?
Both the countries have put forward their own demands on the negotiation table which are quite strict. Russia demands that Ukraine completely withdraw its forces from the Donbas region and that the areas occupied by Russia should be recognized internationally as part of Russia. Russia says that until these conditions are not accepted, the attacks will continue.
On the other hand, Ukraine has made it clear that it will not withdraw its forces. Ukraine wants the war to be stopped on the existing front line, i.e. there should be a ceasefire. Along with this, Ukraine has asked for a firm guarantee of security for the future so that attacks do not happen again.
War losses and updates so far
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has informed that 55,000 of his soldiers have been killed since the start of the war. This is the first time such a huge figure has been officially reported amid the war. The ground situation is still bad. Russia has recently attacked power plants in Ukraine, forcing millions of people to live without electricity in the freezing cold of minus 20 degrees.
However, some rays of hope have also emerged from this ongoing meeting in Abu Dhabi. During the first day’s discussion, an agreement was reached between the two countries regarding prisoner exchange.
