Iran has come forward to help Indian nurse Nimisha Priya after she got death sentence in Yemen. Regarding this incident, an Iranian official said that Iran is ready to help India on this issue in the form of humanitarian aid. Nimisha, an Indian nurse working in Yemen, is accused of killing a Yemeni citizen.

According to reports, Nimisha was sentenced to death in this case by a Yemeni court in 2020. Nimisha went to the Supreme Justice Council of Yemen against this decision but this court also upheld the death sentence. Yemen’s President Rashad al-Amini has also reportedly approved Priya’s death sentence. There has been a reaction from Iran on this entire matter. According to the agency, Iran has said that we are ready to do whatever we can on the basis of humanitarian help in this matter.

what is the matter

Indian-origin nurse Nimisha Priya is a trained nurse. After going from India to Yemen, he worked for a long time in various hospitals of Yemen. According to reports, in 2014, when the civil war was going on in Yemen, Nimisha’s husband and their minor child returned to India, while Nimisha decided to stay in Yemen. Later, when the husband and child tried to go back to Yemen, they could not get visas there.

Nimisha, who was struggling with financial problems, joined hands with Talal Abdo Mahdi, a citizen of Yemen, to open a clinic in Yemen itself. Both of them opened the clinic and started running it in a better way. According to reports, during this time both the people went to visit Kerala. Allegedly during this time Mehdi stole a photo of Nimisha’s wedding. According to the petition filed by Nimisha’s mother, after reaching Yemen, Mehdi edited those photographs and claimed that he and Nimisha were married. Posing as Nimisha as his wife, he started withdrawing money by manipulating the documents of the clinic.

According to Nimisha’s family, Mehdi started harassing her and her family continuously. He started taking drugs and beating Nimisha continuously. To prevent Nimisha from going to India, her passport was also hidden. When Nimisha went to the Yemeni police and filed a report about this, instead of taking any action against Mehdi, the Yemeni police arrested Nimisha and put her in jail for 6 days. On returning from jail, Mehdi threatened Nimisha of destroying the entire family at gunpoint and also assaulted her.

In July 2017, when Nimisha became upset with her life, she sought help from a jail warden who lived near her. The warden advises him that he should render Mehdi unconscious and then convince him to give up his passport.

Nimisha did the same but since Mehdi consumed a lot of drugs, the anesthetic had no effect on him. In such a situation, when Nimisha gave another dose, Mehdi died due to overdose, after which Yemen police arrested Nimisha.
