He said in his X post, “We hope that all the concerned parties will unite behind the initiative of President Trump and support this effort to end the struggle and ensure peace.”
PM Modi’s remarks came at a time when the White House released a peace plan on Monday (local time) after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the Gaza struggle.
Earlier, Canada, Qatar, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt also welcomed US President Trump’s plan.
The Shanti Yojana also included that Gaza would be a non-cutting, terror-free area that would not pose a threat to its neighbors and would be redeveloped for the benefit of Gaza people who have suffered a lot.
The peace plan said that if the two sides agree on this proposal, the war will end immediately. Israeli armies will return to the agreeable line to prepare for the release of hostages. During this time, all military operations, including air and artillery bombing, will be postponed, and the war lines will remain stable until the terms of the fully phased return are met.
The peace plan further stated that all the hostages, surviving and dead, will be returned within 72 hours of publicly accepting the agreement by Israel.
After the release of all hostages, Israel will release 250 life sentence and 1700 Gazivasis detained after October 7, 2023, including all women and children. In lieu of each Israeli hostage released, Israel will also release the remains of 15 dead gazelis.
The scheme states that after the return of all the hostages, Hamas members committed to peaceful co-existence and inactivity will be forgiven. Hamas members who want to quit Gaza will be provided safe route to the countries receiving them.
When this agreement is approved, full assistance will be sent immediately to the Gaza Strip. At least, the amount of aid will suit the amount included in the Humanitarian Assistance Agreement on January 19, 2025, which includes the rehabilitation of infrastructure (water, electricity, sewage), rehabilitation of hospitals and bakers, and supply of equipment required to remove debris and open the roads.
The Shanti Yojana mentions that the entry of distribution and assistance in the Gaza Strip will be without intervention of both sides through the United Nations and its agencies, Red Crescent, and other international institutions, which are not affiliated to any side in any way. Under the January 19, 2025 agreement, the same system will be implemented to open the Rafa crossing in both directions.
