Turkey continues to form Islamic NATO with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, increased concern for India

A new military organization is taking shape in West Asia which is being called ‘Islamic NATO’. The defense agreement signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September 2025 is being expanded and now talks for Turkey’s inclusion in it are in the final stages. The main objective of this alliance is to consider an attack on one country as an attack on all the member countries and give a collective response.

What is the whole plan of Islamic NATO?

According to reports, there is a plan to create a strong group by combining Saudi Arabia’s economic strength, Turkey’s modern military technology and Pakistan’s nuclear capability. It will work on the lines of NATO organization of western countries. Its purpose is to counter rivals like Iran in the region and reduce security dependence on America.

How much power do these three countries have?

Why is it a security threat to India?

The presence of Pakistan and Turkey in this organization is a matter of concern for India. Experts say that this alliance can change the balance of power in South Asia. Diplomatic pressure against India may increase due to Turkey and Saudi Arabia’s support to Pakistan on Kashmir issue. Apart from this, there is a possibility of Pakistan using the weapons given by Saudi Arabia against India.

What are the terms and conditions of the agreement?

Under the ‘Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement’ (SMDA) between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, if there is an external attack on one country, the other country will help with its army and resources. After the addition of Turkiye, this scope will increase further, which will include joint use of drone technology and air defense systems.
