The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent a much-needed consignment of medicines and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip on 17 March 2026. This help has been sent under “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3”, so that the huge shortage in the hospitals there can be overcome. The value of this medical consignment is said to be around 2.7 million dirhams (about 735,000 dollars). This help was immediately dispatched on the instructions of Sheikha Moza bint Suhail Al Khaili.
🚨: Donald Trump’s big announcement: 3-week military operation against Iran will end soon, effect visible in UAE and Kuwait.
What is included in this consignment and where will it go?
The main objective of this medical supply is to overcome the shortage of essential items for surgical and trauma treatment in Gaza’s hospitals. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the stock of basic medical items like bandage (gauze) and needles has fallen significantly in Gaza. This supply will provide great relief to those hospitals which are treating seriously injured people.
This help is mainly being delivered to the UAE Field Hospital in Rafah and the Emirates Medical Center in Khan Younis. According to official figures, so far the UAE has provided total assistance of about $2 billion during the Gaza crisis. More than 90,000 tons of humanitarian relief material has so far been delivered to Gaza by land, sea and air routes.
Why was there immediate need for medical supplies?
The supply chain has been significantly affected due to closure of airspace at some places in the Middle East and disruption of shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. Apart from this, the work of evacuating patients from Gaza has also come to a halt to a large extent after 28 February 2026. Because of this, the pressure of treatment on local field hospitals has increased a lot.
According to the report of Dubai Eye 103.8, WHO’s Global Logistics Hub located in Dubai is currently managing more than 50 emergency supply requests from 25 countries. Although some shipments are being delayed due to airspace restrictions, the UAE government is making every effort to deliver essential medical supplies on time.
