There were two crew members on board the plane. The pilot was rescued safely soon after the accident, but the operation to search for the second officer continued till 5 April. America had deployed hundreds of commandos and dozens of fighter planes and helicopters for this mission. There was firing between American and Iranian soldiers during the rescue, but America suffered no losses.
