Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on the fifth death anniversary and stated him a symbol of social justice and said that he was a dedicated leader to public service.
Prime Minister Modi said that Paswan was a popular leader of Bihar who always worked for the welfare of the disadvantaged and exploited communities of the society. Modi wrote on the social media forum ‘X’, “My enthusiast tribute to the popular leader of Bihar and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, devoted to public service, on his death anniversary.
The Prime Minister said, “He always worked for the welfare of the deprived and exploited communities of the society. His contribution to politics as well as nation building will always be memorable. ”
Paswan, who came from the Dalit community, made friends in all political parties in his long political career more than five decades. During this period, he remained the center of attraction for various rival political alliances due to widespread public support, especially when he left the Janata Dal and established the Lok Janshakti Party in the year 2000. He joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), leaving the Congress -led United Progressive Alliance for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and after that he was a minister in the Modi cabinet till his last time.
His son and Lok Sabha member Chirag Paswan is now a minister in the central government and can play an important role in Bihar politics. Assembly elections are due in Bihar next month.
