New Delhi, June 4 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a tour of Gujarat and Daman on June 5. During this, he will inaugurate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth more than Rs 21,700 crore in Surat and Daman. He will also address public meetings in various programs.
The Prime Minister will reach Hazira in Surat district of Gujarat at around 2:30 pm, where he will review the ongoing industrial activities and infrastructure projects. After this, at around 4:15 pm, he will inaugurate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth about Rs 18,800 crore in Surat.
In Surat, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation many important projects related to roads, energy and industrial sectors. These include the inauguration of Package-6 and Package-7 of Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, which will strengthen high-speed transportation, logistics and economic connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the project to develop important parts of National Highway-56 into four lanes. This will improve the connectivity of tribal areas and make access to the Statue of Unity easier.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a 220-bed ESIC hospital in Surat. This hospital will be equipped with modern medical facilities, central laboratory and 24-hour emergency and trauma services. Apart from this, Transmission Network Expansion Project will also be inaugurated to increase the power evacuation capacity under the Inter-State Transmission System in Gujarat.
He will also inaugurate several other projects of the Gujarat government, including modernization of power distribution system in Valsad, development of waste disposal and treatment infrastructure at Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) and Sarigam GIDC and development of essential utility facilities at Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.
After this the Prime Minister will reach Daman, where at around 6:15 pm he will inaugurate the new terminal building of Namo Airport and dedicate Namo Hospital to the nation. After this, at around 7:15 pm, he will inaugurate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth about Rs 2,970 crore in Daman.
The total cost of the projects that will be inaugurated and inaugurated in Daman is around Rs 1,340 crore. Prominent among these are the new terminal building of Namo Airport and Namo Hospital. The new terminal will strengthen regional air connectivity, while NaMo Hospital will be able to provide medical services to approximately 1,500 outpatients (OPD) per day.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of new projects worth about Rs 1,630 crore. These include major projects like the Iconic Bridge, Daman Convention Center and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus. These are expected to boost tourism, investment and employment and improve the living standards of the people of the area.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of four important projects worth about Rs 885 crore for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. These include development of port facilities on the eastern and western coasts of Kalpeni and Kadmat islands. The construction of these multi-purpose jetties will enable year-round movement of large passenger and cruise ships.
These projects will improve passenger and freight transportation facilities, and will also strengthen services such as fisheries, fuel distribution, ice supply and boat repairs. The government believes that this will strengthen the maritime connectivity of the islands, support the livelihood of local fishermen and give impetus to tourism and socio-economic development.
