New Delhi. Senior IPS officer of Punjab Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar was arrested by CBI today. Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar has been arrested in a bribery case. It is being told that CBI caught DIG Bhullar red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. However, till now no official statement has been issued by Punjab Police or CBI regarding the arrest of the DIG. DIG Bhullar was probably arrested from Mohali. It is also being told that after the arrest, CBI officials also raided the DIG’s house and office.
A scrap dealer resident of Fatehgarh Sahib had filed a complaint against DIG Bhullar, alleging that he had demanded a huge amount as bribe to settle a case. DIG Bhullar had called him to Mohali office to give Rs 5 lakh as the first installment of bribe amount. With complete planning, CBI sent the complainant to Bhullar and arrested him when he took the bribe amount. According to media reports, complaints were being received against Bhullar for a long time. The arrest of the senior IPS officer has created a stir in the entire Punjab Police department.
On the other hand, CBI suspects that DIG Bhullar has made a lot of wealth with the money of corruption. CBI has registered a case against DIG Bhullar under the Prevention of Corruption Act and he is currently being interrogated. CBI team is engaged in investigation. Let us tell you that Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s father Mehal Singh Bhullar was the DGP of Punjab. While Harcharan’s brother Kuldeep Singh Bhullar is a former Congress MLA.
