New Delhi, October 18 (IANS). Harvard Business School professor Tarun Khanna said that India is at a critical juncture in its development. Emphasizing on the mutual relationship between technology, education and governance, he said that the reforms taking place in the education sector are special for India.
Speaking to news agency IANS during the NDTV World Summit held in the country’s capital Delhi, he emphasized the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and said it is reshaping businesses across various sectors and education is no exception.
He said that as an educator I believe that we are still in the early stages of understanding the true impact of AI. We need to carefully consider which skills AI can replace and where human potential can be enhanced through it.
Pro. Khanna further said that although AI is being widely discussed, its actual benefits are not yet fully measurable at the ground level. We are yet to see the benefits of AI reflected in the end result. He suggested that more structured integration of technology could open up new possibilities for India’s youth.
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at the summit, he praised the leadership for setting clear national goals. Pro. Khanna said that Prime Minister Modi is very decisive. His aspirations for India, as he expressed yesterday, are beneficial not only for the country, but also for humanity as a whole.
He further said that the guidance given by the Prime Minister’s Office, especially on the initiatives taken in the Education Ministry, reveals a focused and action-oriented governance model.
Prof. on the proposed three-language policy of the government. Khanna said he is not fully aware of the specifics, but welcomes any initiative that exposes students to multiple languages. He said that if its aim is to expand linguistic knowledge, then I think it is a great step.
