Australia has won the toss and decided to bowl in the first ODI against India in Perth. Nitish Reddy has got a chance to debut in this format. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have entered the ODI format for India after 223 days.
The Indian team has entered the Perth Stadium with three all-rounders and three fast bowlers. In such a situation, Kuldeep Yadav could not make it to the playing eleven.
22-year-old Nitish Reddy made his Test debut in November 2024 at the Perth ground itself. He has played 9 Tests in his career, in which he has scored 386 runs at an average of 29.69. At the same time, in 4 T20 matches, he has scored 90 runs and also taken 3 wickets.
After winning the toss, the Australian captain said, “The wicket looks quite good, there is a bit of moisture on top, so hopefully we will be able to take full advantage of it.”
Indian captain Shubman Gill said, we too would have chosen to bowl first after winning the toss. We are in good condition. We have a great combination.”
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma last appeared in the final of the Champions Trophy on 9 March 2025, which was won by Team India. Both the players have retired from Test and T20 formats.
So far, 152 matches have been played between the two countries between 1980 and 2025, in which Australia won 84 matches, while India won 58 matches. At the same time, 10 matches remained inconclusive.
