New Delhi, October 20 (IANS). Bengaluru Police has registered a case of abetment of suicide against Ola founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and senior executive Subrata Kumar Das after an employee allegedly committed suicide.

According to the information, the deceased was 38 year old K. Arvind has left a 28-page suicide note, in which he has accused his superiors of harassment at the workplace. Police said that a case has been registered after the complaint of Arvind’s brother Ashwin Kannan.

According to officials, the FIR has been registered against Bhavish Aggarwal, Subrata Kumar Das (who heads vehicle regulation at Ola) and others under section 108 of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS).

The complaint also mentions alleged financial irregularities of approximately Rs 17.46 lakh after Arvind’s death.

The incident took place on September 28, when Arvind allegedly consumed poison at his home. He was taken to a private hospital, but his life could not be saved.

His family later received a death note, which detailed allegations of persistent harassment at the workplace and alleged misconduct by senior Ola executives.

He also alleged that the company’s human resources department failed to give a clear explanation about some of the money transfers made to Arvind’s bank account.

A senior officer involved in the investigation has confirmed that notices have been issued to all the persons named in the FIR.

“He has submitted a written explanation and further investigation is underway,” the officer said.

On this matter, Ola has issued a statement saying that we are deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of our colleague Arvind and our thoughts are with his family in this difficult time. Arvind was with Ola Electric for over three and a half years and was based at our headquarters in Bangalore.

During his tenure, Arvind never lodged any complaint or complaint regarding his job or any harassment. His role also did not include any direct contact with the company’s top management, including the promoter.

We have challenged the registration of FIR in the Honorable Karnataka High Court and protective orders have been passed in favor of Ola Electric and its officials.

The company spokesperson finally said that in order to provide immediate assistance to the family, the company immediately facilitated full and final payment into their bank account. Ola Electric is cooperating fully with the investigation and is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful and supportive workplace for all employees.
