New Delhi, June 4 (IANS). Over 700 employees of Pune-based IT company ThinkTech India have reportedly become jobless after the company suddenly ceased operations. According to multiple reports, employees were locked out of offices and are now struggling to get back their outstanding salaries and deposits.

According to reports, the police have arrested the company’s CEO Harshal Thackeray as part of the investigation into the alleged financial scam and fraud related to the sudden closure of ThinkTech India, based in Pune’s Hinjewadi IT hub.

The matter first came to light following a complaint lodged by a 25-year-old intern, following which the police launched a comprehensive investigation into the company’s financial condition and business activities.

According to officials, more than 30 other employees and interns also approached the police after this and lodged similar complaints. These complaints include allegations like non-payment of salary, withholding of stipend and non-return of the amount taken from the employees.

Employees allege that the company suddenly closed its operations without any prior notice in April. When many employees reached the office, they found that the office was closed and company representatives could not be contacted.

The investigating agencies have also registered a case against the company’s training and development head and a human resources (HR) manager in this case.

According to reports, employees complain that the company had taken security deposits of around Rs 15,000 from employees and interns. The company claimed that this amount was required for official laptops and other equipment.

Employees say that initially the company used to pay salaries and stipends on time, which built the confidence of the employees. But from January this year the payments stopped completely.

Many employees also alleged that the company later issued checks against the outstanding salaries, but many of those checks bounced. This raised more serious questions about the financial condition of the company.

Police say the investigation into the matter is ongoing and additional financial records and transaction information of the company are also being examined as part of the investigation.
