Amrit Vichar, Lucknow: Chaturthi of Kartik Krishna Paksha is on Sunday, Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated on the same day. It is believed that Hanuman ji was born on Tuesday at midday in Aries ascendant Swati Nakshatra. Hanuman devotees observe fast on this day. They worship Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman and recite bhajans, kirtans and Sunderkand.
Offering prasad of jaggery and gram and lighting a lamp in temples is considered auspicious. Narak Chaturdashi and Roop Chaturdashi are also celebrated on this day. In the morning, before sunrise, one takes bath with sesame oil and then lights a lamp in the name of Lord Krishna and prays for health and longevity. In the evening, lamps are lit for Mahalakshmi and Kuber and mantras are chanted and wishes for financial prosperity are made. Donating a lamp to Yamraj on this day provides relief from the fear of hell.
Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated today at Hanuman Garhi
Along with the grand festival of lights in Ayodhya, the birth anniversary of Bajrangbali will also be organized in Hanumangarhi temple, on this day the doors of the temple will remain open till 2 am. 1100 Vedic mantras along with Parayan were offered in the Havan Kund after being recited by 11 scholars at the temple. So a grand celebration of Lord’s birth anniversary will be organized on the same Sunday. In which a grand aarti will be organized at 12:00 pm along with Navlakha necklace and adornment studded with diamonds to Lord Hanuman Ji Maharaj.
Ramesh Das, senior priest of Hanumangarhi temple, said that after the completion of Navah recitation which lasted for 9 days, Havan was performed by reciting Vedic mantras in the Yagyashala of the temple premises. After completing the grand decoration and aarti of Bajrangbali at 4:30 am on Hanuman Jayanti, the program of darshan of the devotees will be conducted for the whole day. There will be grand adornment of Bajrangbali late in the evening. Maharat Aarti will be organized at 12 midnight. He told that on this occasion, a large number of devotees and pilgrims come to the entire temple complex for darshan, hence the temple will remain open till 2 o’clock in the night.
