Asian Cup 2025: Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi has offered to hand over the Asia Cup title to the Indian team at a special ceremony. Naqvi can hand over the Asia Cup title to the Indian team in an event to be held in Dubai on November 10. The organization of this event has been decided after exchange of several letters between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Asian Cricket Council. According to the report of Telecom Asia Sport, Pakistan Cricket Board President Naqvi has said that the trophy will be handed over on November 10.
“Several letters have been exchanged with the BCCI, and the ACC has informed them that we are ready to invite Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and his players along with BCCI official Rajeev Shukla to receive the trophy at a ceremony in Dubai on November 10,” Naqvi told the media in Karachi.
The final of Asia Cup 2025 was played between India and Pakistan on 28 September. Indian team had defeated Pakistan. Mohsin Naqvi, in his capacity as ACC President, had come to award the Asia Cup title to the Indian team, but the Indian team refused to accept the title from Naqvi. After this Naqvi ordered to take the trophy out of the stadium. After this the Indian team returned without taking the trophy.
The reason for not taking the title from Naqvi is because he is the Home Minister of Pakistan. Relations between India and Pakistan are very bad after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The Indian team did not even shake hands with Pakistani players in the three matches played during the Asia Cup. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, through an email, had demanded from Naqvi to return the Asia Cup title to the Indian team and if no response was received, it had asked to take up the matter with the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC Board meeting is scheduled to be held in Dubai on 4-7 November.
