Jammu, November 3 (IANS). National Conference (NC) President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday accused Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of delaying files related to public welfare and development. Talking to journalists, Farooq Abdullah said that Lieutenant Governor Sinha is withholding the files and obstructing the work of our government. They should work as allies of both the government and the public. How can there be progress if the administration itself becomes a hindrance instead of a facilitator?
The NC President said that the Lieutenant Governor should understand that he represents the aspirations of the people and not just the bureaucracy. Good governance and development depends on close coordination between elected representatives and the administration. Unnecessary delays and bureaucratic stagnation are detrimental to public welfare.
Dr Abdullah further said that governance does not mean gathering dust on paperwork, but providing services to the people at the grassroots level. He called for regional unity and reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir has always been and will always be one unit.
He stressed that Jammu and Kashmir are indivisible. Both the regions will move forward together bound by common faith, language and brotherhood.
He expressed his gratitude to Jammu Chamber of Commerce and the people for their warm hospitality and termed it as a true reflection of communal harmony and brotherhood.
On the question of restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah said that Inshallah, it will happen soon.
He also urged Prime Minister Modi to focus more on Jammu and Kashmir and assist the people affected by the recent storms.
He said that I appeal to Prime Minister Modi to pay attention to the difficulties of our people and provide timely assistance to alleviate their suffering.
Expressing confidence ahead of the upcoming by-elections in Budgam and Nagrota, Dr. Abdullah said that the National Conference has strong hopes of success in both the constituencies.
Regarding the performance of the NC government, he said that some promises have been fulfilled, and more promises will be fulfilled in the remaining tenure of the elected government.
