New Delhi, October 22 (IANS). Recruitment in India’s IT sector has seen a surge in the first half of FY26 and campus recruitment in technology companies has increased by 25 percent during this period. This information was given in a report released on Wednesday.
In the first half of the current financial year, there has been an increase of 27 percent in the demand for engineering, technical and AI profiles as compared to the same period of the last financial year. At the same time, there has been an improvement of 5 percent in compensation.
“Most of the campus recruitments are being done in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and the National Capital Region, with a 7 per cent increase in placements in tier-2 cities like Coimbatore, Udaipur, Nagpur, Visakhapatnam and Indore,” talent and technology specialist company Adecco Group said in its report.
The report said companies are prioritizing stable, manageable recruitment to ensure new hires can be deployed productively, rather than simply remaining on the bench.
According to the report, most of the companies are now working on the “train and then hire” model instead of the “hire-and-training” model.
Sanket Chengappa, director and business head, professional staffing, Adecco India, said the IT recruitment sentiment is still in a rebalancing phase, becoming cautious yet goal-oriented. Companies are prioritizing depth of skills over scale and focusing on cloud, data and AI-based capabilities as well as connecting workforce capabilities with active project pipelines. “Although campus recruitment has picked up, the real challenge is to ensure that engineering talent is market ready.”
Chengappa further said that to address this problem, “we are working closely with IT companies, educational institutions and government bodies to provide customized up-skilling and re-skilling solutions.”
The IT industry is currently grappling with a 45-50 per cent demand-supply gap in AI roles, cloud computing, cyber security, cross-domain engineers, MLOps engineers and data engineering.
