IND vs AUS 2nd ODI: The second match of the three-match ODI series between India and Australia was played on Thursday (23 October) at the Adelaide Oval ground. In this exciting match, Team India had to face defeat by two wickets. Australia had a target of 265 runs to win, which it achieved in 46.2 overs. Earlier, in the first ODI played in Perth, India had lost by 7 wickets. Now after the defeat in Adelaide, Team India has also lost this ODI series. The third and last match of the series will be played in Sydney on 25 October.Team India managed the score with the partnership of Rohit-Shreyas

The start of the Australian team chasing the target was nothing special. Indian bowlers tried to take hold in the match by giving initial shocks. Arshdeep Singh gave India its first success by dismissing captain Mitchell Marsh (11 runs). After this Harshit Rana sent Travis Head (28 runs) to the pavilion. After this, Matthew Renshaw and Matthew Short tried to support the team by making a partnership of 55 runs for the third wicket. Renshaw was bowled by Akshar Patel after scoring 30 runs. Washington Sundar raised India’s hopes by dismissing Alex Carey (9 runs) early.

Connolly-Short partnership takes Australia closer to victory

After this, Matthew Short and Cooper Connolly added 55 runs for the fifth wicket. Short scored 74 runs in 78 balls, which included four fours and two sixes. After the fall of five wickets, Mitchell Owen and Connolly added 59 runs for the sixth wicket and brought Australia closer to victory. Although India definitely took the wickets of Mitchell Owen (36 runs), Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Starc, but by then the match was in the hands of Australia. Cooper Connolly returned unbeaten after scoring 61 runs and became the hero of the team’s victory.

Rohit-Shreyas formed a strong partnership

Rohit Sharma completed his fifty in 74 balls, which was considered his slowest ODI half-century since 2015. This was the 59th fifty of his ODI career. Whereas Shreyas Iyer completed his half-century in 67 balls. This partnership was broken by Mitchell Starc and Rohit was sent to the pavilion by Josh Hazlewood. Rohit scored 73 runs, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. After some time, Shreyas also got out after scoring 61 runs, he played 77 balls with the help of 7 fours.

India’s middle order made a respectable score

After this India lost wickets at regular intervals. KL Rahul (11), Washington Sundar (12) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (8) could not contribute much. Whereas Akshar Patel scored 44 runs and took the team beyond 200. Harshit Rana (24*) and Arshdeep Singh (13) batted well in the last overs to strengthen the team’s score. Adam Zampa took four wickets for Australia. The Indian team did not make any changes in its playing-11 for this match. Three changes were seen in the Australian team. Josh Philippe, Nathan Ellis and Matthew Kuhnman were sat out and were replaced by Alex Carey, Xavier Bartlett and Adam Zampa.

H2H record of India-Australia

So far 7 ODI matches have been played between India and Australia at Adelaide Oval. Of these, India has won only 2 matches, while Australia has won 5 matches. Overall, India has played 15 ODIs on this ground so far, winning 9 and losing 5, while one match was tied. If we talk about the overall record of both the teams, there have been a total of 154 ODI matches between India and Australia. In this, Australia has won 86 matches, India has won 58 and 10 matches remained inconclusive.
