Independent MP Pappu Yadav on Thursday invited Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to join the Grand Alliance, saying that the BJP is stabbing him from behind. He said that despite political pressure, the alliance respects Nitish Kumar and values his leadership in the state.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav said, “I invite them because the BJP is stabbing them from behind. The BJP is eliminating them. Our leaders have always respected them. They are being stabbed from behind, but we have a lot of respect for them.”
However, Pappu Yadav expressed concern over Tejashwi’s picture being given prominence in the campaign material of the Grand Alliance.
Commenting on a poster with Tejashwi’s picture, he said, “Voting will be done only on Rahul Gandhi’s picture, not on anyone else’s picture. There should have been pictures of all three alliance leaders. This is not right, and will not send the right message. We can win Bihar only on Rahul Gandhi’s face. We have no other way to win here.”
In contrast, RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari strongly supported Tejashwi Yadav as the face of the alliance.
Tiwari said, “Tejashwi is only Tejashwi in Bihar. The people of Bihar know that they are going to vote on the promises, intentions and resolutions of Tejashwi Yadav on 243 seats. The public has already approved the face of Tejashwi Yadav as the CM. The remaining formalities are there, they will also be completed. The people of Bihar have accepted Tejashwi Yadav as their Chief Minister. The people of Bihar have faith in Tejashwi Yadav.”
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led grand alliance includes the Congress Party, Dipankar Bhattacharya-led Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
