Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Friday accused the Grand Alliance of focusing only on vote bank politics. He said its leaders talk about Muslims but fail to give them proper representation and are motivated by “personal ambitions” rather than public welfare.
The LJP (RV) chief also criticized the decision to appoint Tejashwi Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Mukesh Sahni of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Paswan said, “They only want to maintain their vote bank. They talk about Muslims, but when it comes to giving them representation, they give them nothing. Mukesh Sahni has been declared the face of the Deputy Chief Minister, but he does not care about giving representation to people of his community. How will they work for Biharis who did not come out for election campaign? In the Grand Alliance, the fight is only about their personal Has ambitions.”
Paswan later said that Muslims should understand the schemes provided by the NDA government, which are aimed at benefiting everyone. “This is the same RJD to which my father had told in 2005 that they should make a Muslim the chief minister,” he said.
Why didn’t he make a Muslim the Chief Minister?… He says one thing and does something else. For them Muslims are just their vote bank. Muslims should understand this and the schemes provided by our government are aimed at benefiting everyone,” the LJP (RLD) leader further said.
Earlier today, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai hit out at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, terming him “corrupt” and saying he has been “proven guilty” on corruption charges.
Speaking to ANI, Rai said Bihar has gone backward because of Yadav’s attempt to “accumulate wealth and build an empire” for his family.
He said, “If a person who has become synonymous with corruption and who has been proven guilty on corruption charges is saying such things, then it is even more shocking.” Bihar has gone back many years because of this one person, who acquired immense wealth for his family and built an empire.
Rai said, “Tejashwi Yadav has proved the corruption charges against him, then what is the need to prove that he is not corrupt.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday the Grand Alliance made its position clear regarding its key face. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and leader of opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, has been declared the face of the chief ministerial post.
Vikassheel Insaan Party’s Mukesh Sahni was declared the alliance’s deputy chief ministerial candidate for the state elections. The main contest in the 2025 Bihar elections will be between NDA and Grand Alliance.
Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The results will be declared on 14 November.
