Chamba, October 25 (IANS). The changing weather has increased health problems in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, especially in small children, cases of cold, cough and mild fever are increasing rapidly.
In view of the changing weather, Ayurvedic doctor of District Ayurvedic Hospital Balu, Dr. Kulwinder Sandhu has advised parents to adopt traditional and Ayurvedic measures to take care of the health of children.
Dr. Sandhu said that during seasonal changes, the immunity of children becomes weak, due to which they quickly become vulnerable to infections. He said that at this time it is important to dress children in warm clothes according to the weather, give them lukewarm water and keep them away from cold and stale things.
He said that according to Ayurveda, natural ingredients like basil, ginger, liquorice, turmeric and honey are very beneficial in preventing cold and cough.
Dr. Sandhu told that giving lukewarm water mixed with a little honey and turmeric in the morning on an empty stomach provides relief to children from sore throat and cough. Apart from this, turmeric milk before sleeping at night is also helpful in increasing immunity.
He also warned that parents should not make their children consume cold medicines or syrups available in the market without medical consultation. These provide immediate relief, but can cause harm in the long run.
Dr. Sandhu said that special attention should be paid to children’s balanced diet, adequate sleep and clean environment. Green vegetables, seasonal fruits and freshly cooked food at home help in preventing diseases. Light exercise and morning sunlight is the best natural tonic for children.
He said that by taking a little care and adopting Ayurvedic routine, seasonal diseases can be easily avoided and children’s health can be protected for a long time.
