New Delhi, October 26 (IANS). The government is continuously taking steps to make the country a global leader in next generation communication technology. This information was given in the official data released on Sunday.
Following the rapid rollout and adoption of 5G, the government is now focusing on developing 6G technology under its “India 6G Vision”, which aims to make India an advanced telecom innovation hub by 2030.
According to the government, India’s 6G vision is based on the principles of affordability, sustainability and universal access.
It aims to ensure that every citizen enjoys high-speed connectivity while promoting indigenous research, innovation and collaboration with global partners.
This initiative is deeply linked to the national goal of building a ‘Developed India’ by 2047.
After 5G, sixth generation or 6G technology will be the next big advancement in wireless communications. It is expected to be 1,000 times faster than 5G and will speed up data transfers.
It will work to advance real-time applications such as remote surgery, advanced robotics, smart cities and immersive virtual experiences.
India’s 6G roadmap targets the sector to contribute approximately US$1.2 trillion to the national GDP by 2035. The country aims to achieve 10 percent share in global 6G patents, reflecting India’s emergence as a hub of innovation in communications technology. In parallel, the satellite communications market is projected to grow three-fold by 2033, strengthening India’s space-based connectivity ecosystem.
Through initiatives such as the India 6G Alliance, Telecom Technology Development Fund and active partnerships with global research institutions, India is steadily moving from a technology adopter to a technology creator and standard-setter.
