Jaipur. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma chaired a sectoral roundtable focused on Mines and Minerals, Chemicals, Textiles and Hosiery, IT and Shekhawati Haveli during the Pravasi Rajasthani Meet in Kolkata on Tuesday. During this, he gave detailed information to the entrepreneurs, investors and migrant Rajasthanis about the rapidly changing industrial scenario of Rajasthan. Sharma, while discussing at the Mines and Minerals Sectoral Round Table, said that along with abundant reserves of granite and marble, Rajasthan is also a leading producer of zinc, lead and limestone. He invited NRI Rajasthanis and investors to take advantage of opportunities in mineral processing, downstream industries and sustainable mining. Sharma also gave information about policies like Rajasthan Mineral Policy-2024, Rajasthan Investment Promotion Policy-2024 (RIPS-2024) and Rajnivesh Single-Window System, through which work on projects in these sectors is being done rapidly. Reserve of rare earth elements is an important milestone in the journey of self-reliance.
The Chief Minister said that the state is going to start a new era of industrial development with the discovery of important reserves of Rare Earth Elements (REE) in Sivana Ring Complex of Balotra. This has become India’s first hard rock REE block. He said that this discovery is an important step towards self-reliance, because 17 minerals found here are important for electric vehicles and high-tech manufacturing. To exploit these resources, the state government is also planning to set up a Center of Excellence in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India.
Increasing opportunities for chemicals and petrochemical industries in the state
While discussing in detail the growing potential of chemicals and petrochemical industries, the Chief Minister mentioned Rajasthan’s Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and strong connectivity with Delhi-NCR. He said that the objective of the state government is to create new opportunities which will strengthen the economy of the state while also preserving its heritage and promoting sustainable development. He said that the state is developing as a major industrial center with the petroleum refinery and petrochemical complex coming up in Balotra. He said that leading companies like HPCL, Vedanta, Hindustan Zinc, Chambal Fertilizers and Deepak Nitrite are working in the state and this has promoted employment and technological innovation on a large scale.
Rajasthan is becoming the country’s leading IT hub
The Chief Minister said that Rajasthan is establishing itself as a leading IT hub with strong digital infrastructure and policies. He said India’s largest government data center operates in Jaipur and Jodhpur, which provides more than 600 services through Rajswan network and e-Mitra platform. The innovative ecosystem of the state is continuously expanding with more than 4,900 startups and facilities like Techno Hub under iStart.
He said that the state government is working on skill development of the youth in partnership with Rajasthan Center for Advanced Technology (R-CAT), leading global tech companies. At the same time, major institutes like IIT Jodhpur and IIM Udaipur are also providing new opportunities to the talents. Shri Sharma said that our state has emerged as a major destination for IT and ITES development due to special economic zones like Mahindra World City and investor-friendly policies like Rajasthan Data Center Policy-2025.
Our state is fast growing textile destination
While interacting with the representatives of textile and hosiery sector, the Chief Minister said that Rajasthan is the fastest growing textile destination of the country. Bhilwara has given a new identity to Rajasthan as a textile city. He said that the new Textile and Apparel Policy-2025 promotes man-made fibres, technical textiles and sustainable manufacturing.
Immense tourism potential in the mansions of Shekhawati
Sharma also discussed the conservation of Shekhawati Havelis along with the rich cultural and architectural heritage of Rajasthan. He said that these havelis are symbols of the glorious past of Rajasthan. It attracts tourists interested in art, architecture and history. He said that along with preserving these havelis, the state government is strengthening the economy of the state by promoting tourism.
During this, Minister of State for Urban Development and Autonomous Governance (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Kharra, officials, investors, non-resident Rajasthanis and representatives of various sectors were present.
