CM Dhami Unity March Walkathon: On Friday, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami paid homage to his statue at Ghantaghar and also inaugurated the Ekta Padyatra and participated in it. On this occasion, he also administered the oath of adopting Swadeshi and drug-free Uttarakhand. Paying tribute to the Iron Man of India, Bharat Ratna, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Chief Minister said that it is because of his indomitable courage, foresight and spirit of dedication to the nation that today India stands as a powerful and unified nation.
The Chief Minister said that Sardar Patel’s entire life was dedicated to the unity and integrity of the country. He created a united India by uniting more than 560 princely states into one thread. Paying tribute to the contribution of such a great man, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi decided to celebrate his birth anniversary as ‘National Unity Day’ from the year 2014, which is a true tribute to him. He said that walkathon programs are being organized across the state till 16th November at three places in each district. Along with a padyatra of 8 to 10 kilometers at each event venue, work is being done to give a positive message to the society by adding public awareness campaigns like Drug Free India, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam and Self-reliant India.
The Chief Minister said that this walkathon is not just a race, but a medium to strengthen the spirit of unity in diversity of India. This will strengthen the spirit of nation building, discipline and service among the youth. He called upon the youth to play an active role in realizing the vision of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat by imbibing the ideals of Sardar Patel.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working towards the goal of making Uttarakhand the best state of the country. He called upon all the citizens of the state to unite and contribute in realizing this resolution. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Mr. Satpal Maharaj, Mr. Ganesh Joshi, Mrs. Rekha Arya, Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Naresh Bansal, MLA Mr. Khajandas, Mrs. Savita Kapoor, other public representatives, District Magistrate Dehradun Mr. Savin Bansal and SSP Ajay Singh were present.
