New Delhi, November 1 (IANS). Dinner is not only necessary to fill the stomach, but also to keep the body balanced and have energy the next morning. Even in Ayurveda, dinner has been considered important. One should neither eat more nor less at night, because it affects the next morning. Along with this, some things should be taken special care of after dinner.
Walking 100 steps after eating food is very beneficial. Walk slowly, do not hurry. After this, drink a cup of lukewarm water or fennel water, it protects from gas and acidity. By meditating or taking deep breaths for 5 minutes immediately after eating, the digestive juices work properly and the mind remains calm.
It is important to clean teeth and tongue after eating at night, otherwise bacteria grow in the mouth and the quality of sleep deteriorates. Along with this, washing the feet or doing light oil massage helps in sleep. Wear loose clothes to relax your stomach and think positive things before sleeping.
Avoid eating anything before sleeping so that digestion remains proper. According to Ayurveda, it is better to have dinner by 8 pm and sleep by 10 pm. This balances Kapha dosha and leads to deep sleep.
Lukewarm milk (with turmeric or nutmeg) before sleeping is good for both digestion and sleep. Putting two drops of mustard or coconut oil in the navel and a drop of ghee or molecular oil in the nose calms the brain. Dim the room lights and turn off screens 30 minutes before bed.
According to Ayurveda, sleeping on the left side is best. Taking some Triphala or asafoetida powder with lukewarm water before sleeping improves digestion. If the stomach feels heavy then celery and rock salt can help.
By adopting these habits, digestion will improve, sleep will be deep, body will remain light and mind will remain happy.
