The national capital’s air quality saw a slight improvement on Wednesday, although the air quality index (AQI) still remained in the ‘poor’ category at 273.
According to the ‘Sameer App’ of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality was recorded in the ‘poor’ category at 27 monitoring stations while in Shadipur it was in the ‘very poor’ category with a figure of 308.
Air pollution is at its peak in Delhi, the air quality is still very poor in some places. Anand Vihar’s AQI remains in the ‘severe’ category at 413, while Chandni Chowk has recorded 340 and IGI Airport area has recorded 282.
In its daily report, the weather department said westerly winds at a speed of 15 km per hour blew in the city in the last 24 hours, which helped filter out the pollutants. Air quality at 18 monitoring stations remained in the ‘very poor’ category with readings above 300.
According to CPCB’s Sameer App, Alipore recorded the highest AQI of 377, followed by Anand Vihar at 366. The concentration of PM 2.5 was 128.2 micrograms per cubic meter and the concentration of PM 10 was 260.
