Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Toyota and Mahindra will soon launch new midsize electric SUVs in India and here’s what we know about them
The midsize electric SUV segment in India is going to grow rapidly soon, as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Toyota and Mahindra are set to launch their new electric SUVs in the coming months. There are going to be four major launches in this segment in the next six months, which will bring a new change in the Indian electric car market. Midsize SUVs are already receiving a good response in India, so these companies now want to add more customers through the electric version. Here we have given information about 4 midsize electric SUVs to be launched in India.
1. Mahindra XEV 9S
Mahindra’s fully electric version of the XUV700, the XEV 9S, will be launched on November 27. The model seen during testing has a new and stylish design, which includes a closed front grille, new alloy wheels and a dashboard with three screens inside. This SUV is built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform and will have two battery options. Its top variant is expected to have a real range of around 500 kilometers.
2. Maruti Suzuki and Vitara
Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV, the e Vitara will be launched in India next month. This SUV will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant and is based on the Heartect e platform. It will have two battery options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh.
It will be sold through the NEXA premium dealership network.
3. Tata Sierra EV
After many years, Tata Sierra is making a comeback again and this time it will be available in all three options – petrol, diesel and electric. While the petrol-diesel models will launch this month, the Sierra EV will launch in early 2026. It will have two battery options which will give a range of more than 500 km. Features will include three connected screens, drive and terrain mode selector, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS and panoramic sunroof.
4. Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV
The Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV will be based on the Heartect e platform and is expected to be launched in early 2026. This electric SUV will have two battery options and the cabin will include features like dual display, wireless charging, OTA updates and ADAS. The smaller battery model offers a front motor with 144 hp power and 189 Nm torque, while the larger battery variant offers 174 hp power and 189 Nm torque.
