Srinagar, November 21 (). Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah has said that after the Delhi blasts, Kashmiris should not be viewed with suspicion across the country.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of all states and union territories to ensure that Kashmiris do not face any kind of trouble. Expressing concern over the uneasy atmosphere arising after these incidents, he said that the people who commit such criminal acts are very few and they do not represent the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is very sad that the actions of a few misguided people have created an atmosphere of suspicion and hostility against the entire Kashmiri community,” he said.
He especially talked about the safety of those Kashmiri youth who are working and studying in other parts of the country.
“We must ensure that Kashmiris, especially our youth who have gone to different states for studies and employment, feel safe, supported and protected,” Dr Abdullah said.
He also said that Kashmiris have always made significant contributions to the social, economic and cultural fabric of India, and it is the responsibility of all governments to protect their dignity and security.
Dr Abdullah appealed to all state and union territory leaders to issue strict instructions to law enforcement agencies against any kind of discrimination or targeted harassment, so that innocent citizens do not become victims during the heightened tension.
“We must stand united, and make justice and fairness our guiding principles,” he said.
