Chamoli, November 21 (IANS). Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana is proving to be very helpful for the common people in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. This ambitious scheme of the Government of India was started with the aim of providing quality and affordable medicines across the country.
In the same sequence, Jan Aushadhi Kendras are also running in Chamoli, due to which the local people are saving 50 to 90 percent on medicines.
Every day a large number of patients are coming to the Jan Aushadhi Center operated in the Sub District Hospital Karnaprayag to buy cheap medicines. People say that the generic medicines they get here are not only affordable but are also reliable in terms of quality.
Many patients say that it was difficult for them to get expensive medicines from the market, in such a situation Jan Aushadhi Kendra is proving to be a boon for them. Due to this, they are getting good medicines at less money.
Under this scheme, medicines used in the treatment of many serious diseases including heart disease, diabetes, infections are available at very low prices in government run centres. This is providing financial relief to poor and middle class families, who often left treatment incomplete due to expensive medicines.
Jan Aushadhi Yojana is not only providing relief to the patients but is also creating new employment opportunities for young entrepreneurs. With the operation of the centres, employment is increasing at the local level and people’s access to health services is also becoming easier.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana is strengthening the health system in Chamoli district and is playing an important role in providing health security to the common people through affordable and quality medicines.
Speaking to IANS, Shivani Joshi, a pharmacist at the Jan Aushadhi Center of Sub District Hospital, Karnaprayag, said, “Jan Aushadhi is a very good scheme run by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In this, medicines for many diseases including diabetes are available at low prices. The medicines which people buy from outside for Rs 100 to 150, are available here for Rs 10 to 15.”
Beneficiary Manoj Dimri said that the government has a good scheme, the medicines which are expensive in the market, we get them here at less money.
Beneficiary Milan said, “I have come to collect medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendra, where good medicines are available at low cost. We cannot buy expensive medicines. This is very beneficial for us. This scheme run by the Central Government is very good.”
