The results of all municipal council and town council elections in Maharashtra will no longer be declared on December 2. Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has given this decision. According to the decision, the results of all municipal council and town council elections will be declared on December 21. The election code of conduct will remain in force in Maharashtra till December 20. CM Fadnavis said, “The Election Commission should improve the election process.
Everyone followed the rules during the elections. Someone went to court, that’s why such things are happening. Tight police and security arrangements have been made for the elections.” Devendra Fadnavis said, “I have not read the court’s decision, but when they have given the decision, everyone will have to accept it. The elections which had been declared and the counting of votes was fixed, are being carried forward. I have never seen anything like this in my 25 years of political career. This is not correct. The court has given its decision. Be it the court or the Election Commission, both are autonomous entities. However, the candidates who worked hard and campaigned for so long are suffering the consequences of the system’s failure, through no fault of their own. This is not correct. There are more elections to be held, and I demand that the Election Commission correct these mistakes.”
Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar expressed his displeasure. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said, “The order of the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has ruined the entire election process. It is a complete joke. The state government and the Election Commission are responsible for this. The Supreme Court order has been misinterpreted. An attempt has been made to show 27% reservation for OBCs. In which direction is this government working? Counting of votes has now been postponed from December 3 to December 21.” The Election Commission has become a puppet of the government, but Fadnavis is completely responsible for this. Is this a deliberate attempt to steal votes? Is this an attempt to influence the election results? Democracy is being strangled.”
