New Delhi, December 6 (IANS). If there is a problem of cold, cough or sore throat, then the first name that comes to mind is liquorice. But, this Ayurvedic super herb is not limited to removing only these problems. It seems like it is a boon for the skin.
Mulethi is a super herb of Ayurveda, which is also called Yashtimadhu. It has been used for centuries to provide relief from cough, sore throat and dry skin in winter.
Nutritionists and Ayurvedic doctors consider it as a super herb because when taken in the right quantity and in the right manner, it makes the body clean from inside and glowing from outside. If we sit down to count the benefits of this water, it will not be less than ten.
This provides immediate relief from cold, cough and sore throat. It clears the mucus and opens the respiratory tract. By calming acidity, gas and indigestion, it strengthens the immunity and prevents falling ill again and again.
Its main functions include giving glowing skin by lightening pimples, blemishes, spots, freckles, reducing stress, irritability and anxiety, providing relief from mouth ulcers and swollen gums, removing fatigue and increasing energy, balancing hormones and making the voice sweet.
Ayurvedacharya explains that the method of making liquorice water is also easy. Add half a teaspoon of liquorice powder or pieces and 3-4 basil leaves in a cup of water, boil for 5-7 minutes, filter, add some honey or lemon when it becomes lukewarm and drink.
Health experts also say that on normal days, take it once in the morning on an empty stomach or after lunch, twice a day in case of cough and cold. Do not take it continuously for more than 3-4 weeks, give a break of 10-15 days in between.
Mulethi is a cheap, safe and effective Ayurvedic tonic. However, some people should exercise caution. Pregnant and lactating women, high blood pressure, kidney or heart patients should not take it without doctor’s advice. Do not take it at all with things containing salt and should not be consumed in large quantities for a long time.
