New Delhi, December 8 (IANS). There are many such asanas in the ancient culture of India, Yoga, which along with making the body flexible, also keeps the mind light and calm. The name of one such yoga asana is ‘Padahastasana’. This yoga asana massages the stomach muscles well, due to which the digestive system remains active and there is no indigestion and stomach related health problems.
According to ancient belief, Padahastasana has been a part of Surya Namaskar, which was done to absorb the energy of the Sun and increase the vitality in the body. While doing this the body bends towards the earth. Yoga experts believe that doing it regularly not only increases physical flexibility of the body but also reduces mental stress. In the modern lifestyle where most of the time we remain bent in front of mobile or computer, this asana gives relief to the spine and increases the flow of energy in the entire body.
To practice this regularly, sit on your knees on a yoga mat. Keep the heels outward and the hips on the heels. Place the palms on the thighs and keep the spine straight. One should remain in this posture for 5-10 minutes while breathing normally.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Padahastasana provides relief from menstrual discomfort, providing balance and energy to the body. While doing this, one should take care of the capacity and avoid forceful stretching.
Doing this increases blood flow towards the head, which is good for the brain and eyes. Also, it is helpful in calming the mind and removing stress.
While doing yoga, always pay attention to your capacity. Forceful or excessive stretching can harm the body. Therefore, every person should do yoga as per his convenience and pace.
