New Delhi, December 19 (IANS). IBM on Friday announced a major campaign for skill development in India. It says it will train 50 lakh Indian students and youth in advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cyber security and quantum computing by 2030.
This initiative will be run through IBM SkillsBuild, which aims to build a future-ready workforce in the country and provide easy access to digital and job-focused skills to students and adults.
IBM said that through this program, advanced technology education will be made more inclusive and accessible, under which AI and emerging technology education will be expanded in schools, universities and vocational training institutes.
IBM, in collaboration with bodies like All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), will promote activities such as AI-focused courses, teacher training, hackathons and internships aimed at providing practical experience to students and teachers.
IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna said India has the potential to be a global leader in AI and quantum technology. He said that this scheme will give the youth an opportunity to learn new things, innovate and help in the development of the country.
IBM is strengthening AI education in schools. AI curriculum is being developed for senior secondary students and materials such as AI project cookbooks, teacher guides and explainer modules are being provided to teachers. It aims to give students an understanding of computational thinking and responsible AI.
The core part of this scheme is IBM SkillsBuild, one of the world’s largest and easiest digital education platforms. It offers more than 1,000 courses, including AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, cloud, data and job-related skills.
