A hair-raising incident has come to light amidst the dense forests and rivers of Sundarban in West Bengal, which has shocked everyone. Here, in a struggle between life and death, a husband faced death directly to save his wife’s life. Without caring for his life, he took a direct fight with a man-eating tiger. This incident has become a wonderful example of courage, where the husband snatched his wife from the mouth of the tiger who came in the form of Yamraj. However, the woman has been seriously injured in this terrible struggle and is currently fighting for her life in the hospital.
While fishing, the tiger came out of the bushes and made a fatal attack, grabbed the wife in its jaws and started dragging her towards the dense forest.
This heart-wrenching incident took place in the Sundarban area of South 24 Parganas district. The husband and wife along with some of their friends had gone fishing on the river bank near Kastur Island. They were busy with their work, when suddenly a tiger sitting in ambush in the bushes attacked the woman with lightning speed. The tiger gripped the woman tightly in its jaws and started dragging her towards the dense forest. This scene was so horrifying that anyone present there could have felt numb, but the woman’s husband did not lose courage.
The husband became adamant in the face of death; The tiger attacked with sticks and net, the woman was taken to the hospital in a blood-soaked condition.
Seeing his wife dying before his eyes, the husband attacked the tiger without wasting a moment. The companions present there started making noise, while the husband repeatedly attacked the tiger with sticks and fishing nets. Frightened by her husband’s fierce appearance and continuous attacks, the tiger finally had to leave its prey and run away. However, the sharp teeth and claws of the tiger caused deep wounds on the woman’s body. With the help of colleagues and local people, the blood soaked woman was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where she is undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors.
People are forced to risk their lives to extinguish the fire in their stomachs, despite warnings from the forest department, fishermen go to the ‘death zone’ for the sake of livelihood.
This is not the first incident of conflict between humans and wildlife in the delta region of Sundarban. The local residents here are completely dependent on forests and rivers for their livelihood. People often venture into the rugged mangrove forests to catch fish, crab, shrimp or collect honey and wood. From time to time, the forest department and administration warn people not to go out of the protected zone and are advised to enter the forest only with permission and following safety rules. Despite this, poverty and the need to earn a living sometimes force people to go to these dangerous areas, risking their lives.
