Now Gmail ID will change! Google is going to end the biggest problem of years, users will get big benefit

If you’ve ever wondered if you could change your Gmail ID, you’re not alone. Lakhs of people have been struggling with this problem for years. That weird ID you created in school or college, a misspelled name, or an email address that seems unprofessional in today’s world – but they couldn’t change it. The reason for this was simple: Gmail never offered the option to change the username. Now, that’s about to change.

Google is working on a feature that will let users change their @gmail.com email address without creating a new account or losing old data. This means all your emails, photos, Drive files, YouTube accounts, everything will remain intact. Only your email address will be updated. This is no small matter. In fact, it is considered to be the biggest and most awaited feature in the history of Gmail.

Till now, the problem was that if someone wanted to change their Gmail ID, they had to create a completely new account. Then the headache began: updating the new email address everywhere – banks, UPI, social media, office tools, government websites, and many more. Due to this problem, many people kept using their childhood email addresses for years. Now, Google is preparing to eliminate this problem.

Users will be able to choose a new username

Under the new system, users will be able to choose a new Gmail address within their existing Google account. The special thing is that the old email address will not be completely deactivated. It will continue to work as a backup or alias. This means that if someone sends an email to your old address, it will still arrive in the same inbox. So, your identity will change, but the connection will not be broken. However, Google is not leaving this feature completely open. To prevent misuse and fraudulent identification, certain limitations are being imposed. For example, once you change your email address, you will not be allowed to change it again immediately. There will be a gap of some time in this. Additionally, the email address can only be changed a limited number of times per account. This means the feature is there for the right reasons, not for frequent renaming. You can change your name, but not your username.

Another thing to be clear is that changing your Gmail display name and changing your real email address are two different things. The display name could have been changed earlier, but the real @gmail.com address was still fixed. This new feature will allow users to change this real address. This change will not be limited to personal users only. Professionals, freelancers, content creators, and those who thoughtlessly created an awkward ID years ago will see this as an opportunity for digital rebranding.

Although it is not official yet, hints of this feature have started appearing in Google’s support section. Screenshots have also been shared in many leaks, which show that some users are already seeing this option. It is believed that the company will gradually roll it out in different countries to control security and prevent misuse. Google has not announced any official date yet, but it is clear that this feature is not coming suddenly, but after long preparation.
