A major step has been taken towards strengthening the public transport system in Delhi-NCR. Three new metro corridors have been approved to improve connectivity in the capital and its surrounding cities. The total cost of this project will be Rs 12,014.91 crore, under which a new route of more than 16 kilometers will be created. The central government has given the green signal to these corridors after the approval of the Public Investment Board (PIB). DPR (Detailed Project Report) was already ready, so now it is expected that Delhi Government and DMRC will soon start the tender process and start the construction work.

In the 16th board meeting of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), the new metro station and connectivity from Noida Sector-62 to Sahibabad and Indirapuram City Center was discussed in detail. Although its DPR is ready, work is yet to start at the ground level. The construction of this corridor will not only reduce the distance between two big cities, but will also provide relief to the people from the severe traffic jam on NH-9. This route will also save a lot of time for the working people living in this belt.
Plan to build direct metro connection from Dwarka to Kherkidaula toll plaza for lakhs of employees of Millennium City.
The proposed metro line between Gurugram and Dwarka will give a new impetus to the development of this area. According to the proposed plan, a metro corridor is to be built from Dwarka to Kherkidaula toll plaza via Gurugram. This line will directly connect the cyber city, new developing sectors, high-rise buildings and dense population around Dwarka Expressway to the metro network. This will directly benefit lakhs of office going employees and common commuters. Currently, this project is at the planning and DPR stage and the construction work is awaited to start, but its completion will revolutionize the connectivity of the Millennium City.
Preparation to take metro to Sonipat and Murthal to reduce bus and truck traffic on GT Road belt.
Efforts are also underway to connect the industrial areas of Haryana adjacent to Delhi with the metro network. The idea of extending metro from New Delhi to Sonipat and Murthal via Narela, Kundli is at the center of discussion. The main objective of this line is to directly connect the industrial and educational hubs of the GT Road belt with Delhi Metro. Experts believe that if this line comes into existence, a large number of people from Murthal Dhaba belt and surrounding sectors will use the metro instead of private vehicles. This will also help in reducing the heavy traffic of buses and trucks on GT Road.
The line from Ballabgarh to Palwal is entangled in papers, despite the announcement made years ago, the construction work is stuck in the files.
On one hand, while the new corridor is getting approval, an important project in the southern part of Delhi-NCR is hanging in the balance. The metro extension from Ballabhgarh to Palwal was announced in the year 2018-19 and its roadmap was to be decided by 2023, but no work has started on the ground yet. Important files like DPR and environment clearance for Faridabad and Palwal belts are stuck in different government departments. If these files are given priority and work starts, then the connectivity of this part of NCR can also become as strong as other areas.
