There should be a pension system for women in the private sector. More women toilets should be built in public places and they should be clean. There should be Anganwadi in secretariats. Education of girls till eighth standard should be free. Tax should not be taken from government women employees. Health and sex education should be given to girls in schools. Women should also have equal rights as men.

These are all the issues keeping in mind the women who will approach the polling booths. In the ‘Let’s do politics’ dialogue organized at ‘Hindustan’ office on Thursday, the working women who gathered to talk on the topic ‘Now it’s women’s turn’, had a clear view of the elections that whichever government is formed, it must take care of women’s safety, their rights and respect.

When the dialogue started, the most important issues were safety and health. Among these also, awareness regarding the use of sanitary napkins was most prominent. Renu Shukla, supervisor of the Child Development and Nutrition Department, said that even near the DGP office in Lucknow, criminal incidents happen with women. If laws are made for security then why are they not followed? Dr. Savita expressed seriousness on the lack of health awareness among women. He said that the result of not paying attention to women’s health is that diseases among them are continuously increasing. Then the issue of lack of toilets arose. On this, government employees said that leave alone roads and markets, even in government departments, bathrooms are so dirty and smelly that women go there and return with diseases. Amidst all this, the issue of child labor also came up.

Using small, poor children as child labor was declared completely wrong. When it came to voting percentage, it was also revealed that village women come out to vote but it is not their wish. Even today they remain bound by the orders of the head of the household. By changing this mentality, women should be given the freedom to choose the right candidate. Overall the view is clear that vote for the one who speaks for half the population.

Better laws should be made for us, so vote

Shubhangi of Aali Sanstha, who participated in the dialogue on the topic ‘Now it’s women’s turn’ in the dialogue ‘Let’s do politics’, appealed that women should vote in maximum numbers for their rights. He said that better laws and policies can be made only when there is greater participation in our voting. He said that if we do not vote, such laws will always be made which will bind women. Young women were also appealed to come out enthusiastically to vote. Sudha Singh appealed to women to vote irrespective of caste and religion.

Major issues that arose

1. Pension system for women in private sector.
2. There should be more women toilets and they should be clean.
3. Anganwadi in secretariats.
4. Free education for girls till class 8th.
5. Tax should not be taken from government women employees.
6. Health and sex education for girls in schools.
7. Women have equal rights as men. 8. Voting as per your wish.
9. Safety of women at workplace, on roads.
10. Counseling of adolescent girls from doctors in schools.

Will form a government that gives equality and respect

There is a need to improve the level of education. Even today 98 percent of girls in villages do not study after class five. The coming government should make education free for girls till 8th class. The increasing drug abuse among children should be stopped.
-Shashikanta, Provincial General Secretary Supervisor Association

Attention should be paid to daughters’ education. Counseling of adolescent girls should be done in schools right from the beginning for matters related to women’s health. The difference between son and daughter should end at home itself.
Dr. Sarita Saxena, Medical Superintendent, Lohia Hospital

Women should get equal rights in legal rights and women should get respect along with freedom. Vote is our power which should be used as per our wish without being influenced by anyone. There is a need for women to come forward openly and express their views.
Shubhangi, Advocate, Aali

Women should vote irrespective of caste and religion. Women in private jobs should get pension. No party has made women’s issues an election issue, so let us decide for ourselves who is right.
Sudha Singh, Assistant Secretary, India Development Council

Women have to vote for their issues. Women who face problems every day will have to speak up for their rights and this time they will have to vote.
wait, member, aali

our vote is valuable

Women from rural areas should be brought forward, it is the responsibility of the government. The government should take initiative to make them self-reliant. Women should vote to build the future of the country and brighten the lives of their daughters.
Ragini Srivastava, social worker

Women’s safety should be priority. Plans should be made for women who are contributing to social reform and politics. To change the thinking towards themselves, women themselves should come forward and vote.
Savita Shukla, General Secretary Jan Kalyan Samiti

No party has included women in its agenda. Domestic violence and harassment of women are not being controlled, hence women should vote keeping their issues in mind.
Meena Singh, employee leader

Women should have the right to express their opinion and choose their career. Women should go and vote in maximum numbers so that the government realizes our strength. Our vote is also valuable.
Richie Singh, Director, Drama Society
