AIMIM President and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has said that China’s claim of mediation between India and Pakistan is an insult to the country and the Central Government should strongly refute it.
He said normalization of relations with China cannot be at the cost of India’s honor or its sovereignty.
“After the US President (Donald Trump) claimed to declare a ceasefire before us and use trade sanctions to establish peace, now the Chinese Foreign Minister has also officially made similar claims. This is an insult to India and the government should strongly refute it,” Owaisi said in a post on social media late on Wednesday night.
China wants to keep India and Pakistan on the same level and is trying to prove itself superior in South Asia. He asked, “Had the Modi government agreed to this during the Prime Minister’s visit to China?”
The Hyderabad MP further said that the Chinese Foreign Minister’s claim of mediation is surprising and the Center should officially refute it and assure the country that any third party interference is not acceptable.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday said tensions between India and Pakistan were included in the list of “hot issues” that China had mediated on this year.
New Delhi has been maintaining that the May 7-10 clash between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack was resolved through direct talks between the Director Generals of Military Operations of the two countries.
India has consistently maintained that there is no room for interference by any third party in matters related to India and Pakistan.
