Anganwadi center in Kota closed till 14 January, mercury at zero in Mount Abu
Jaipur. Cold wave and dense fog have completely affected life in Rajasthan. On Monday morning, there was dense fog in many districts including Jaipur, Nagaur, Udaipur, Sikar, Kota. In view of the severe weather conditions, holiday has been declared in schools in 20 districts of the state. At the same time, the minimum temperature was recorded at zero degree Celsius for the third consecutive day in Mount Abu, a hill station in Sirohi district. The night temperature has gone below 5 degrees Celsius in 7 cities of the state. Even during the day, people remained hiding in their homes due to the freezing cold. Due to very low visibility in the morning, vehicles had to drive with headlights on on roads and highways.
Holiday in many districts including Jaipur, Kota, Sikar
In Jaipur district, students from class 1 to 5 will have a holiday from January 6 to 10, while for children from class 6 to 8, holiday has been declared from January 6 to 8. Schools from classes 1 to 8 in Hanumangarh and Sikar districts will remain closed from January 6 to 10.
In Sriganganagar district, holiday has been declared from January 6 to 12 for students from nursery to class 5. In Bundi, Baran and Dausa districts, there will be a holiday in schools from class 1 to 8 from January 6 to 7. In Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, Bhilwara, Tonk, Bharatpur, Nagaur, Didwana-Kuchaman and Rajsamand districts, students of classes 1 to 8 will have holiday from January 6 to 8.
In Jhalawar district, schools from class 1 to 8 have been kept closed from January 6 to 10. In Ajmer district, holiday has been declared from January 6 to 7 for students from pre-primary to class 5. In Chittorgarh district, the holiday for children from class 1 to 8 will be from 6 to 7 January.
At the same time, only January 6 has been declared a holiday for the students of classes 1 to 8 in Kota district. The district administration has taken this decision keeping in mind the health and safety of children. According to the Meteorological Department, the cold may increase further in the coming days, hence further decisions can be taken according to the situation.
Dense fog becomes cause of accidents
Due to dense fog, road accidents also occurred at many places. In Bundi district, a trailer hit a tractor-trolley from behind due to fog in the morning. In this tragic accident, Ramniwas Malav (60) died on the spot. After the accident the trailer driver fled leaving the vehicle behind. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and made the traffic system smooth.
Bus accident in Dausa, 7 passengers injured
Due to dense fog in Mandavari police station area of Dausa district, a private bus collided with a Jugaad filled with wood parked on the roadside. This accident happened at a curved turn near Kalyanpura. The bus was going from Sawai Madhopur to Lalsot. 7 passengers were injured in the accident, out of which 3 have been referred to a higher center as their condition is critical.
Administration alert, appeals to people for caution
According to the Meteorological Department, the cold may increase further in the coming days. The administration has appealed to people to avoid unnecessary morning and late night travel, use fog lights and headlights while driving and take special care of children and the elderly.
